Despite what you might think, this quote isn't a joke. This is a real quote said in the movie, "Baby's Day Out". In the movie, Peter is trying to convince his wife that he is going to be a good father for their unborn child. While they are in the hospital, they're having a baby.
When Peter leaves for work, he gives his wife a note with the quote on it. While she's reading it she mistakes it for Peter's secret code to take care of their infant son while she's asleep. When Peter returns home and his wife asks about Buford, he says that Buford is just an old friend of his who gave him the note.
